Does exactly what it says it does. A bit heavy for the Air

It definitely adds weight to the thin and light Macbook Air. It doesn't add much girth, which is great.The big drawback is the added weight on the screen is obviously not what the hinge is intended for, so the screen tends to fall back if not on a stable surface. A very small issue, but worth mentioning.Overall, it's a GREAT product.

It does what it promises...with a couple of minor nits

Speck gives you what it promises: lightweight protection for the Air. And its cool that when the Air is powered up, the Apple logo shines through clearly. The only thing that prevents this from getting five starts are picky points, but they might be important to other buyers. The case is a good matte finish, which is easy to hold and not slippery, but it does show occasional fingerprints if you're a little sweaty. Not a deal breaker. The other thing that is a bit more aggravating is that the slight weight of the top cover sometimes forces the Air's screen to fold all the way back if you've got it angled just at the right point. There are times when (like in writing this review, which I'm typing on the Air) I prefer to have the Speck off - the Air just seems a little more nimble and lighter without it. It's not the easiest to snap on and off if you do it daily, but if you're looking for good, stylish and pretty sturdy protection, I'd go for this Speck.

Apart from being one of the slimest cases around, it's specially-designed stabilizing feet makes it real easy to open a MacBook Air. The case allows the Apple logo to continue it's glow on the front which made it even more worthy.

This CAN'T be from Speck? Sadly, it is...

OK, I buy lots of MacBooks. All get Speck Covers. So, My new MBA got one too.All the others have held up to whatever we dish out, but this one isn't doing so well. As plenty of others have found; , the back corners just crack off, and the case slides off the computer. Contacting Speck, means that I can pay to ship it to them and they will send another defective one back to me. No thanks!.Speck needs to recall these, and offer a suitable replacement.And Amazon needs to consolidate their products, so that reviews that cover different colors of the same product show up together...

Disappointed by the quality, unhappy with the product

I had high expectations for this product, but besides its color--I'm pretty disappointed. I'll go into lengthy detail below, but basically neither the quality nor design of this product met my expectations, especially compared to other speck products. It looks ok at first glance, but upon further use and inspection, the snap design is faulty and the feel/look of the material of the cover is IMHO a lot cheaper looking than another speck laptop case I own.----------------------------------------------------Was a big fan of speck-- I loved my all previous speck products, including two iphone cases and a yellow/black satin cover for my macbook pro 15 inch-- so I'm hoping it's just this specific line of products that are faulty and not speck cheapening it's manufacturing process. All the aforementioned products survived through a fair amount of wear and tear, with a only a crack or two after a relatively lengthy amount of time.With this product-- in less than a month of use, both shell covers for the laptop already have cracks! The bottom cover has cracks at every corner, plus cracks on all of the 'snaps' of where it attaches to the comp. Also one of the corner 'snaps' does not even actually snap onto the comp! The top cover also has a crack on the top center edge (right above the built-in camera on the comp). Besides one plane ride, I have not done any substantial travel with it yet, and I am very conscientious with taking care of my belongings, so I definitely have not thrown or dropped or sat on my covered laptop. It has mostly sat on my desk or on my lap in bed, so I'm really confused as to why/how it got these cracks. I remember I noticed one crack within the first week, but didn't think much of it, due to my (previous) confidence in speck products. Then a few days ago I looked at the bottom of my computer and noticed numerous additional cracks.Moreover, the quality of the actual cover for the macbook air is also a bit different from my other speck cover for the macbook pro. I thought the macbook pro cover made my laptop look absolutely awesome-- with it on, my laptop looked like a specially designed, candy colored piece of sleek machinery. When the laptop was folded closed, the lines were seamless and both covers met one another in a way that practically 'sealed' both halves. The material also had a wonderful translucent glow, and the apple logo only subtly glowed through.However, with the macbook air cover-- it lacks the awesome look the other speck satin cover had with the macbook pro. I think the cover material is thinner or different, so it doesn't feel or look as luxurious. In addition, the covers don't touch each other when the comp is closed nor does it make me feel as though my computer is actually being protected, particularly with the corners cracking off already. Another thing is that the cover really does make the laptop significantly heavier-- which I wouldn't of necessarily minded if I felt the cover truly protected my comp, was durable, and made it look really good.I'm truly curious to see if the people that gave this product five stars still feel that way after a few months of use. I just hope that speck will quickly come up with an improved version of this laptop cover that is more like their macbook pro satin cover. Or at least beef up the edges so they're not all flimsy and cracking.Overall, I can see why some people would think this is an ok product, since not too many companies produce shell-style laptop covers with a satin finish-- it may seem unusual, impressive, or cute for first-time owners. However, for someone that has previously enjoyed the high quality of speck products before, this case will most likely be a let down.

Back corner breaks

I am now on my second speck case. I don't abuse it at all in fact I am very careful with it and my computer. Both covers have broken at the corners after a short time. DO NOT BUY. Looks good doesn't last.

We are on our second cover and it too is cracking- First one cracked with in 30 days and Amazon replaced it, but second one also cracked-even more than the first!!Would not reccomend this item

Nice little case..

Nice little case for my 11in Mac air. Protects well, keeps it from getting scratched. The color is nice (raspberry). Case weighs almost as much as the laptop - but of course thats because the laptop is so very light. My only complaint is that the case pulls away from the laptop sometimes, by the mousepad area. It stays on, nothing bad happens - I think it pulls away because of how thin the edges are. On my regular Mac Book there is a lot more edge for the case to wrap around and adhere to. Speck makes a great product and I do think its a great case.

So far so good

I got this in the mail today and I love it so far. The plastic seems durable enough for normal wear and tear and I can't really see it breaking anytime soon or with anything I'll be doing with my laptop. I typically just tote it from home to my internship and class so I thought this was perfect for me. I also love the color, the picture doesn't really do it justice. My mom has the clear one for her Air and it looks fine, but this looks great. My only complaint is that since the 11" Macbook Air is so light in the first place, this adds some significant weight to it, comported to what it is without it. But, I think it's a small price to pay in order to protect your computer. I prefer this over the MCover, which I bought for my last computer, which never quite seemed to fit right on my computer and the bottom part of the cases have the feet that flip out which were so annoying and ugly. This is definitely a necessary accessory!

This case fits my laptop perfectly, and really does protect it. I started seeing hard cases like these popping up around campus, and decided to try it. I was worried that since my MacBook Pro has the aluminum unibody, a case would block the hinges or keep it from closing properly - but it fits really well! It doesn't add much bulk to the laptop, but I definitely feel better about using it in my biology wetlabs, and don't have to worry about scratches or splashes!
